I recently had the chance to fly in a B-17. Let me tell you, it was amazing. I am a huge WWll buff. For me, that was America's greatest generation. While boarding the plane I was assigned to the side gunner seat. Standing there while the plane was on the ground and looking down the sights of a 50 cal. machine gun.
I couldn't help but image what it was like for young men, 18 and 19 years of age, to stand at the ready to defend the bomber. This is the second old war bird that I have been up in and one thing I have noticed is that those old birds are just smooth. Once in the air we got the signal that we could remove our belts and get up and walk around. I had to remind myself I was there for work and to shoot video. It was so much to take in. Below is the video I shot onboard and from the ground. The landing footage was shot from runway 35 at Sundance Airport in Yukon Oklahoma. The on board was shot as we did a loop around Oklahoma City.
